The Creative Curriculum for Infants, Toddlers, and Preschoolers
Curriculum grounded in extensive child development research

At Neverland Nursery we do not have monthly themes, or predetermined lessons.  We tailor the lessons and subjects we teach to the individual children in our care. Moreover, we have adopted a project based teaching and learning style.  Similar to that of a school in Reggio Emilia, Italy.

We use observation to assess the progress, needs, and interest of children to enhance their learning experience.  We work towards the goals and objectives that the Creative Curriculum for Infants and Toddlers or Preschool lays out to track the progress of development. Areas of development that we consider are: social, emotional, language & literacy, physical, and cognitive.

Care of Self, Others, & the Environment

One of the major acquisitions of the first years of life is independence.  It is our goal to give children the foundational skills for independence they inherently seek. Practical life activities are a large part of our daily routines and consist of learning to care for one's self, learning grace, courtesy, and concern for others, as well as caring for the environment.

Activities that help us learn these skills: dressing, brushing teeth, cooking, cleaning, offering food to others, saying "please" and "thank you," dusting, watering plants, tidying toys, and so on.

Project Based Learning

Project based learning is a teaching method in which students gain knowledge and skills by working for an extended period of time to investigate and respond to an engaging and complex question, problem, or challenge.  The questions, problems, or challenges come from the children themselves.
