Menu & Food Education

Our monthly menus are attached to every newsletter.  The below information is just to give you a small taste of what we offer for meals at Neverland Nursery School.

We feed our infants and early toddlers new foods as they are developmentally ready, and of course we make accommodations for culture, and allergies.  Setting the table is a daily event for Neverland children, they learn place setting, table manners, and clean up skills.

For our solid food eaters, our produce is organic, seasonal, and locally sourced when possible.  We use grass fed meats & dairy, free range eggs, and wild caught fish in our recipes.

Just as in French culture, we too believe in teaching food education to children.  This includes, teaching our toddlers, and preschoolers to cook (age appropriately).

We have an onsite garden where the children go once daily to learn where their food originates.  They have the opportunity to plant, garden, and grow: vegetables, fruit, and flowers in the spring and summer time.  During the other parts of the year the children learn about harvesting, and getting the garden area ready for the next growing season.  Also in our garden area is Dolly the pig, Neverland's school pet.  She resides under a large plum tree, and happily awaits the children's visit every day.  The children adore her, and she adores them!

We do not solve any issue or crisis with food; we feel food is not meant as a pacifier or reward.  Meals are meant to be social, we eat them together whenever possible.  We do not force children to eat their food, however we highly encourage them to taste at least one bite of everything.  Water is always offered and available.  We seek to provide a large variety of foods for children to try over time; the goal is to avoid raising picky eaters, and to encourage healthy nutritional habits.
